- Chien-Mei Chang's Statement:
Since May 2010, I have been an interim NAAAP Boston Board of Director and am seeking re-election. I have been a member since September 2004, and was a Community Service Committee co-chair from January 2007 to May 2009. Having filled various roles, I hope to leverage my past leadership experiences and acquired skills sets to help form effective strategic guidelines, make decisions to ensure successful operations, and for us to be a consistent and reliable resource to our members/corporate sponsors. My consistent passion towards NAAAP and engaging personality will help me continue bringing great value and talent to the leadership team, and attract more, diverse people to lead. In the past six months with the Board, I have just started to be part of the decisions process and discussions about the future of the members and sponsors. I look forward to continue participating in these efforts. I am from Livingston, New Jersey, however currently reside in Quincy, MA. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree from Boston University. I have been in the Marketing field for five years, the Finance field for two years and currently am a National Sales Coordinator for New England Pottery. I plan to bring these past skills to the Board, however hope the position helps me learn more and be part of the operational and strategic parts of the organization. I am excited for this opportunity to serve as a Board of Director and look forward to your vote.
- James C. Fong's Statement:
My membership in NAAAP Boston began in June 2006. Since January 2007 I have served as a Co-chair of the Professional Development Committee. During these four years the PDC has been highly productive, delivering a workshop every month on a wide variety of professional development skill areas. Most workshops were conducted jointly with Corp. Sponsors and delivered at little cost to NAAAP Boston. PDC is an active committee, holding monthly meetings attended by 6 to 14 members. I have recruited and trained a succession of three new PDC Co-chairs. PDC was instrumental in the Boston Chapter's 2009 award from NAAAP National for professional development excellence. Most recently, I have led NAAAP Boston's efforts in the production of a major new professional development offering, the "Taking Charge of Your Career Success" Conference Series. The inaugural Conference held in November 2010 was a huge success that has significantly elevated NAAAP Boston in the Asian professionals community. In June 2007 I was elected to the NAAAP Boston Board of Directors and re-elected in January 2009. As a Board Member I have actively contributed to organization planning and strategy, participated in the interviewing and selection of committee co-chairs, supported Corp. Sponsor relation activities, and been a visible leader at NAAAP Boston-wide events. Going forward, I would like to continue my role as a NAAAP Boston Board Member.
- Ming Hui's Statement:
I am currently the Treasurer and a Board Member at NAAAP Boston and am rerunning for the Board Member position for the 2010-2012 term. I joined the organization in 2006 and have since been involved with the Professional Development, Networking and Corporate Relations Committees. Most recently, I participated in the Curriculum Design Team of The Career Success Conference Series launched in November 2010. In addition, I also participated in the NAAAP Boston scholarship selection committee in which she reviewed and evaluated candidate applications and participated in the final selection of the scholarship winners. Furthermore, I was also a co-event leader for the professional development seminar on Career Success Stories of Accomplished Asian-Americans. Professionally, I am an Analyst in the Global Credit Research group at Putnam Investments, specializing in high-grade and high-yield bonds. In this role, I analyze over 60 companies in the home construction, manufacturing, auto-rental, lodging, railroad and trucking & shipping sectors. Previously, I was an investment associate responsible for assisting analysts and portfolio managers in their investment processes, specifically researching and analyzing the housing and forest products sectors. I have been in the investment industry since I joined Putnam in 2005. Prior to joining Putnam, I received a B.S. at Babson College. I believe in NAAAP Boston's mission to cultivate, empower, connect and inspire leaders for professional excellence. I will continue to help and support this effort, please vote for me to be a member of the NAAAP Boston Board for the 2010-2012 term.
- Calvin Lee's Statement:
I am interested in applying for the Board of Directors position at NAAAP Boston. I have enjoyed serving as the Co-Chair of the Community Service Committee (CSC) for the last year and I hope to continue my involvement and contribution to the strategic goals of the organization by becoming a Board Member. I have been a long standing member of NAAAP since the beginning of 2007, with more active roles in the Community Service and Scholarship Committees. Before taking on the Co-Chair position, I led several community service events and was a volunteer coordinator on the Oak Street Fair planning committee. In July 2009 I became the CSC Co-Chair, leading monthly volunteer events as well as building relationships with community organizations. As a Co-Chair it was my goal to provide quality events for our volunteers, expand our reach to new non-profit organizations, and have an effect on more needs in the community. In the past year, we have worked with 4 new non-profit organizations, built a reliable group of committee members, and provided more volunteer events for our members. For the past 4 years I have been a part of many different levels of the organization and truly believe in the core values. If elected as a Board Member, I look to expand my current role and help develop strategies for maintaining NAAAP Boston as a premier Asian American professional organization.
Thank you again for taking the time to consider each candidate and voting for the future of NAAAP Boston !
