Are you enthusiastic about helping Asian professionals develop skills to advance their careers and personal success? Would you like to build your own leadership skills and enrich your network with important professionals in many fields? Do you enjoy organizing workshops and seminars on topics such as public speaking, networking and career development? If these appeal to you, consider becoming a Co-chair of the NAAAP Boston Professional Development Committee.
Two PDC Co-chair positions are open now. The Committee has exciting programming opportunities to pursue and needs to expand its leadership capacity. Current PDC Co-chair Jim Fong will remain a Co-chair and wants to be able to focus his attention on bringing forward a new, strategic curriculum for NAAAP Boston members. Jim will provide coaching to the new Co-chairs and actively help them transition into their roles.
We are seeking individuals who are familiar with NAAAP Boston activities, and have (or want to develop) experience organizing and running self-improvement workshops. A strong desire to support NAAAP Boston, its values and initiatives is a must. We actively seek diversity (mix of genders, career stages) in the Co-chairs to ensure PDC leaders resonate with the needs of NAAAP Boston's member base. This is a volunteer position and it's flexible how Co-chairs organize their time and participation with teammates and partners. Co-chairs typically serve for a year and often more. As a key representative of NAAAP, a Co-chair must be well-organized and responsive in dealing with both internal (e.g. other NAAAP committees) and external parties (e.g. Sponsors).
Specific responsibilities to be shared across the PDC Co-chairs:
- Investigate potential workshop topics, speakers and panelists, and venues
- Design, plan and promote desired workshops, coordinating with Co-sponsors and other partners
- Manage operational activities on site on the day of the events
- Guide activities of PD Committee volunteers and manage periodic Committee meetings
- Interact with other NAAAP Boston Committees and be visible as a NAAAP Boston Leader
- Contribute to the production of the forthcoming strategic curriculum
