CONGRATULATIONS TO CHIEN-MEI CHANG! The Community Service Committee recognized Chien-Mei Chang as the winner of the 2009 Unsung Heroine Award for her outstanding commitment, dedication, and service to NAAAP Boston and her community. She was nominated by NAAAP Boston member Jason Chan.

"For the last 2.5 years, Chien-Mei co-chaired NAAAP's Community Service Committee where she was a central and driving force of the volunteer events NAAAP has engaged in; helping to lead, plan, organize, execute, and follow up on numerous events such as LiveRight Walk, China and Korea Culture Camps, Bone Marrow Drive, BCNC Oak Street Fair, and countless more over the years. But Chien-Mei's leadership in NAAAP's Community Service doesn't end there. Chien-Mei is committed to helping our community and she has volunteered to help a Bangladesh family with job searches, doctor visits, and care of children. Also, on Saturday mornings, Chien-Mei volunteers at Community Servings where she packages and prepares food for people with terminal illnesses. Chien-Mei's leadership in volunteerism and dedication to helping other has been outstanding. She is a role model for our community and she epitomizes what community service is all about."

The Unsung Hero(ine) award is presented annually by NAAAP Boston's Community Service Committee at the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration. Men or women can be nominated for this award and can include non-NAAAP members as well. CSC requests nominations in the spring.
