On Saturday, January 14th, a group of 8 NAAAP volunteers participated in the Family Nurturing Center Welcome Baby event located in Dorchester, MA.
The event started off with Sandy Sachs, Child Development Specialist at the Family Nurturing Center, explaining the history and the cause of the Welcome Baby program. The goal of the Welcome Baby Program is to celebrate new babies and their families with a home visit, a big bag of new gifts and books, and links to community services and resources.
Volunteers began by tying diapers and blankets into neat little packages to be placed in the Welcome Baby Bag. Assembled Welcome Baby Bags contained hand-made blankets, a book, baby toy, baby care product, and a baby outfit, all carefully placed in a resubable bag.
The group was able to assemble over 80 bags just as lunch was arriving.
