Networking Committee posted on August 14, 2011
On
Sunday, August 14, the National Association of Asian American
Professionals capped off the 25th Annual National Convention and
Diversity Career Fair with a day out in Boston led by local leaders.
Attendees hailed from chapters and ventures from all over North America,
with representation from Colorado, Connecticut, Dallas-Fort Worth,
Houston, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Orange County, Philadelphia, Phoenix,
San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto.
The
day began with NAAAP Boston Networking directors Lilian Hung and Celia
Ho welcoming 63 locals and out-of-towners to Hei La Moon Restaurant in
Chinatown. Smiles and introductions abounded and the tables buzzed with
conversation throughout the hearty dim sum brunch.
Once
satiated, it was time to get moving! Attendees followed Lilian, Celia,
and Boston Board Member Timothy Wong on a walk through Chinatown, taking
in the hubbub of the August Moon Festival and absorbing the local
color.
A
short ride on America’s first subway system later, the group arrived at
the boarding location for the Duck Tour. After upgrading to a stretch
Duck to accommodate the last-minute guests, everyone huddled in for a
group photo and 36 NAAAPsters embarked on an hour-long land-and-water
tour of Boston’s most famous sites. NAAAP Boston Corporate Relations
Director Yi Yi Tang graciously played host and handed out moon cake, a
small surprise to mark the day’s festivities.
Celia,
Lilian, and Timothy received a boat full of joyful faces at the end of
the tour. After exchanging hugs and business cards, the group disbanded
with promises to meet at next year’s convention in New York City. ---
Directors of Networking Celia Ho and Lilian Hung would like to thank: - Jean Choi (NAAAP Boston Networking, Career Fair Assistant
Director) for event planning assistance;
- Caspar Wang (NAAAP Boston
Networking) for marketing assistance;
- Min Blundell (Ocean Spray
Cramberries, Inc.) and Don Pak (NAAAP Philadelphia) for sharing group
photos;
- Timothy Wong (NAAAP Boston Board of Directors) for event
assistance and graciously giving up his seat on the Duck tour; and
- Yi Yi
Tang (NAAAP Boston Corporate Relations Director) for representing NAAAP
Boston leadership on the Duck boat.
