On
Saturday, June 18, NAAAP Boston launched its inaugural Summer
Networking Series with a private tour of Harpoon Brewery. Twenty-three
NAAAP members braved Stanley Cup Parade traffic for a sneak peek at how
the famous libations are created, from barley to bottle, in the Harpoon
Brewery facilities.The
event started off with a basic lesson on beer and its ingredients. The
group then strolled inside the brewing plant for an in-depth look at how
beers are cooked, processed, packaged, and shipped. Equipped with
sampling glasses and newfound knowledge, attendees tasted all ten
variations of Harpoons's ales and even tried a "green"(immature) Harpoon
IPA. While opinions on the best beer varied, there was no debate that
everyone had a good time. The
afternoon concluded with an informal networking session at Atlantic
Beer Garden, where tour participants were joined by volunteers from the
Community Service Committee's Community Servings event. Guests filled up
on appetizers, sampled rival beers, and enjoyed panoramic views of the
waterfront while getting better acquainted.
On
behalf of everyone in the Networking Committee, thank you to everyone
who attended! It was a pleasure discovering beer aficionados in our
