On the evening of Friday, March 11th, a group of 16 NAAAP volunteered at Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center's Chinese New Year banquet.
The annual Chinese New Year banquet is BCNC's biggest event and fundraiser with over 500 attendees. The event included a reception, silent auction, 10 course dinner, and live auction. The volunteers split up into two different shifts. The first shift started off helping set up the reception area and then helped manage the silent auction items. From books to dinners to weekend getaways, volunteers helped answer questions and placing the guests' bids. For the second shift some volunteers monitored the silent auction while the rest took part in the live auction. The live auction, led by David Brown from Channel 5 news, included 6 different items. After the auction, volunteers collected donations from guests that would go toward various programs at BCNC. As the banquet ended, volunteers helped to close out the silent auction items and handed out items to their respective winners. The night turned out to be a great event and all the proceeds went to toward the great programming at BCNC.
Thanks again to the NAAAP volunteers for their efforts and we hope to see you at the next event!
