On Saturday, February 13, a group of NAAAP volunteers, led by Anita Yip, participated in WBUR 90.9 FM radio's Valentine's Day fundraiser. WBUR helps make Valentine's Day exceptionally meaningful with Valentine's Day roses every year, and this year they thanked NAAAP on the air for all the help.
The day began with WBUR's volunteer coordinator giving volunteers a quick orientation for taking pledges and rose orders. With headphones set and ready to go, volunteers took calls from a number of WBUR's loyal listeners throughout the day. At noon volunteers took a break and had crisp noodle salad, savory chicken drumsticks, and delightful chewy cookies. Everyone also had a chance to take home some amazing CDs and books - some for leisure reading and others for professional development. After lunch, volunteers continued to take more calls. At the end of the day, we were part of WBUR's historic achievement of selling more than $1,000,000 in roses.
