On May 26 the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and NAAAP Boston jointly sponsored a networking event in celebration of Asian-American Pacific Islander heritage month. It was held at FRBB’s impressive conference facilities in downtown Boston. 33 people from NAAAP Boston and the FRBB got acquainted while enjoying the hospitality and delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages provided by the FRBB.
The evening featured a career discussion with three esteemed panelists:
David K. Park, Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Secretary, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
Anna M. Wong, Assistant Vice president and Assistant General Auditor (retired), Federal Reserve Bank of Boston
Jeremy Liu, Executive Director, Asian Community Development Corporation
Jim Fong, NAAAP Boston Professional Development Committee Co-chair and corporate executive formerly with Hewlett-Packard Corp., served as panel moderator.
Each of the panelists addressed the theme of Accomplished Asian-Americans, how they got there, and learnings they can share with our community. Information they shared included what their current job responsibilities are, how they prepared for and entered their field, choices they made along their career path, qualities and behaviors they encourage in people they mentor, and job areas in their field that they encourage people to pursue. While each person’s stories were unique, all three encouraged people to stretch themselves and take risks to open more opportunities. There was a lively Q&A session, and then valuable open time to talk with panelists individually.
The event was made possible through the efforts and generosity of many. NAAAP Boston and the Professional Development Committee thank all who made the evening a success:
