The Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC) will be ringing in the Chinese New Year with their 2010 New Year Banquet. Their annual Lunar New Year banquets are attended with over 650 guests and raise almost $150,000 to support BCNC's child care, youth, adult and arts programs!
The night's festivities will include a wine and dim sum reception, silent and live auctions, performances, cultural activities and a 10-course banquet... Of course, the success of the banquet relies on a team of enthusiastic volunteers to welcome guests and support the exciting live and silent auctions. That's where you, our volunteers, come in ...
VOLUNTEER ROLES AND SHIFTS (Make sure to indicate your preferred shift when you RSVP)
Shift 1: 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM – 10 volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed to set up, registration and staff the Silent Auction.
** Staffing the Silent Auction entails ...
- Actively encourage people to bid and bid higher
- Making sure the names/contact information is legible
- Monitoring the auction items
- At the end, help with distributing the items once the items are paid for
Shift 2: 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM – 30 – 35 volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed for the Live Auction, Silent Auction and Clean up.
** More volunteers are needed for this shift to support the Live and Silent Auction because there will be nearly 60 tables bidding during the live auction!
** Staffing the Live Auction entails ...
- Being in the audience to identify bidders & get the right forms to the winning bidder
- Being in the middle of the floor, interacting with guests and encouraging bids!
Applies to both shifts ...
- Volunteers will be fed dinner during the event.
Suggested Dress Attire
- Wear comfortable dress shoes
- No sneakers, no jeans
- Button Down Shirt, (Asian) Silk Blouses, Trousers, Skirts
