Greetings!

On the behalf of the 2009 leadership team, I want to welcome you to the National Association of Asian American Professionals – Boston Chapter (NAAAPBoston). Over the past year and a half, as your President, we have enjoyed tremendous success and growth.

• We have grown to over 400 members, and are one of the the largest chapters in the United States and Canada
• We have the support of 11 corporate sponsors, the largest number in our history: Blue Cross Blue Shields of MA, Boston Consortium, Boston Globe, Comcast, EMC, John Hancock, Liberty Mutual, Ocean Spray, Putnam Investments, State Street and SunLife Financial
• We have 8 strategic In-Kind sponsors: Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Bentley University, Boston RedSox, Color Magazine, Global View Communications, King and Bishop and Tufts Medical Center
• We also increased NAAAPBoston’s brand awareness and marketing in the Greater Boston area

As a result, we have enjoyed increased attendance at all our events, higher quality programming for professional development, community service and social events and reduced fees for our members. Thanks to the support of our members and sponsors, NAAAPBoston is the premier Asian Professional organization in the Massachusetts.

When I joined nearly 11 years ago, I was looking for an organization where I could build a network of professional contacts and friends, develop my career skills and give back to our community. NAAAPBoston is still that organization and we are now better equipped to serve our membership and the community. Our mission statement, “We make Leaders!” is the main, driving force for our organization – and there are many opportunities to not only attend, but to plan and run events as well.

Become a better leader and help shape the future of NAAAPBoston by being an active member of our committees. Become a co-chair or a member of our board of directors. Take advantage of our community service opportunities or professional development programs. Get the career training and professional networking needed to advance your career.

We have just seen the first African-American elected as our President. It is a testament to what we can achieve. “Yes We Can” is his motto – and yes we can make a difference in our workplace and our community. But there is more to be done. We need to continue to grow in members, in events and in the community so that we can keep making advancements for Asian Americans.
